Charles and Christopher (2003, TRT 4 minutes)
Charles and Christopher is a look beneath the empirical gestures of Eadweard Muybridge's motion studies to uncover fetishistic impulses embedded in the images. The motion studies exist as sequential frames of movement for scientific analysis as well as a precursor to cinema. Through animation techniques, these discrete frames are returned to motion. Along the way, a fictional narrative of longing and repression is woven through repetitive actions pieced together in this video.
